Why do you favor the Windows OS?

The best brand of icecream is Mayfield. If you have not had it, you have not lived. Well that was a quick discussion.

But to get on topic, I will say that I do love my eeebuntu netbook. On public connections i dont have to worry about people trying to steal data off of it (who is going to have the tools to hack me at a fastfood restaurant?). with its diminutive specs, not having to run a virus scanner makes it very convenient.

random errors, crashes normally stable programs. i hate the ribbon menus. resource hog. my old 900MHz desktop with 512K of ram and win2k is only marginally slower than my ridiculous new setup.

The Bandwagon. Mac has great advertisement, they trashed Vista from the get go. Then leave it to the internet to finish off the job. Vista really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. "I got my new PC and it came with Vista and it sucks." Why does it suck? Because that's what you heard?
I'm forced to use Vista at work, and have for 18 months. I still don't like it. It's still not stable. I can't remote desktop into win2k machines. it crashes twice a day.

ps. i hate macs even more.

Vista is stable just fine, if you're having problems with it it's probably because either the computer it is running on is not stable, or it isn't configured right, bad or lack of 3rd party drives, or all. Or, possibly, the computer has lots of bloatware and malware. And maybe your "normally stable programs" weren't meant to run on Vista. I'm just guessing here. All I'm saying is when you get a computer error it doesn't automatically mean it's the operating system's fault. What kind of computers do you have Vista on at work and at home?

Vista is NOT a resource hog. If you're not using resources, Vista will. Once you go to use those resources, Vista will give them to you. I'm not sure what "ribbon menus" are but you can make Vista look just like XP (classic start menu and what not).

I'm guessing he's talking about Office 2007, which you can get on XP with the exact same interface.

And what's the specs on the Vista machine? Sounds like you managed to fuck your Vista machine up the ass with unwanted programs.

Especially if the old machine only has 512K of ram. Might be difficult to render these forums with that kind of setup

1.8GHz Intel, 2GB ram, 32-bit vista. photoshop cs3 isnt stable. my home box is a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB, its a beast.

lack of drivers is an issue for some of the problems, but not all.

So on the home box you have Vista and it has problems? If so, you need to reformat that bastard and stop surfing the dark bowels of the internet with all the crazy auto downloads. The first box is going to have issues with Vista, especially trying to run Photoshop.
