I've got a modded PS2, but there have been a few odd circumstances where I have put in a Region 1 DVD (I'm from US) only to have the system tell me it is not the right region or something along those lines. Any other DVDs I have ever used have worked, the two that didn't were Blood Diamond and Casino, if I remember right.
Anyway, is there some sort of DVD region boot-disc I can use on my modded PS2, or something along those lines incase I have this problem in the future?
Playing any region DVD on PS2?

Yeah, it's called DVD Region X. It only works on phat PS2s though.
It's a nice little disc, allows you to play DVDs in full RGB when using an RGB cable instead of green screening (why the fuck did Sony do that? Fucking idiots).
P.S You really shouldn't use your PS2 as a DVD player. Just get a cheap DVD player from the supermarket and region mod it. Most cheap dvd players have software unlocks.

Re: Playing any region DVD on PS2?
Unfortunately I have the slim PS2 so I guess I can't use that disc. If I watch a movie alone it'll usually be on the laptop, otherwise I use the PS2. I would consider buying a separate DVD player but I'm moving to Korea on Wednesday, so it could be something to look at in the future.
On a side note, the sound output on the PS2 is terrible...like any TV I have ever hooked it up to needs to be on almost full volume..

Maybe its your cables, my ps2 is as loud as the tv signal or any other console.
Maybe you should try SMS, its a little media player app which plays divx/xvid, mp3 and I think DVDs also. You can also set up a share from your pc and with SMS watch your movies via network, if you have Freemcboot its easier to setup all running off your memory card. For the share you have to run a little app on the pc. You can also read the movies off the usb slot or the ps2 hard drive. If you need any help let me know, sksapps.com is down so can't give you proper links. Its not XBMC but it gets the job done.
