What is this???
I just got a mod chip for my ps2 and it comes with this little extra chip... no clue what the heck it is for because all of the installation guides I have seen don't mention it.

Can we get a closer picture of the green guy, and front and back pics? From this distance it looks like 8 diodes on a board.

They are indeed diodes. It is a voltage regulator for a certain version of ps2 in which the lasers were junk. One of the guys over at underground gamer told me the answer. Thanks, hope this thread can help some poor confused soul in the future...
