Why do you favor the Windows OS?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

If the majority of the populace thinks the millenium is 2000 then it doesn't matter how many university guys say otherwise.

Website is contradictory. It states that 2001 is the millennium and then at the bottom it says it could be both considered 2000 and 2001 depending on how you look at it.

Besides Windows ME was always considered a replacement for 98. Never NT or 2000. 2000 was used consistently right up until the release of XP (some hardcore stalwarts stuck with it even further).

Vista is ok now. After a bunch of updates, service packs, and more and more companies getting around to making proper drivers it runs a lot better than it did at launch. I absolutely HATED it when it was first released because it hogged all my resources and nothing seemed to work. I still think XP is a better OS, but I've can get along with Vista now. I just hope it doesn't become irrelevant with Windows 7's release because I don't want to have to learn yet another operating system just yet.

I don't understand why people are so pissy about Vista. I use it as my operating system on my gaming rig and I've never had any serious problems. Just a bug with my Western Digital My Book external hard drive that adds about 30-60 seconds to boot/shutdown time when it's plugged in. Microsoft blame Western Digital, Western Digital blame Microsoft. Their solution? Unplug it when you switch your system. It sucks but it's stalemate and unlikely to see a solution since it doesn't have this problem in Windows 7.

Though I run Vista 64 on my laptop that I use for gaming and MS Office, I still run 2000 on my PC that I use for audio recording. It's a wonderfully stable OS. When you are recording audio or capturing video, you don't want any slow down because it screws up your quality. Windows 2000 is great for giving you a stable running environment to work in. Unfortunately, it is losing support more and more as time goes by.

Haha, very funny. Then you must also think that the Earth used to be flat and later on changed it's shape to round. That's pretty amazing stuff. Who cares about truth or reality when all that matters is how many illogical people there are.

You know what. We should totally take advantage of this. Lets get everyone together and decide that sickness doesn't exist, problems don't exist, everything is perfect and everyone is as happy as can be!

Oh, I'd like to fly around the world 100 times a minute like Superman does. Gather up some idiots for that too, because it would be a blast.

I basically use whatever OS I need to use to run the apps I want to run - and I work with all flavors of operating systems at home and at work.

As for Windows, I primarily run Vista and it's been very stable for me. I run XP either via VMWare or dual boot. I go where the games go, and in the "PC" world it's Windows.

The only reason they are saying that 2001 is the millennium is due Roman numerals not having a 0. That's the only reason they don't count year 0.

That's awesome and everything, but as far as I'm concerned makes no logical sense. A baby is born at year 1 in that system. So who's right and wrong?

It's a matter of perception. You either start counting at 0 or you start counting at 1.

Can we get back on topic now please?
