some games work fine with no problems at all; but some of them the dreamcast won't read.
it goes to a black screen and then the system makes the usual 'disc loading' scratching noise it always makes, but then it cuts to this noise that sounds like a finger snapping, immidiately followed by the same loading noise except an octave lower its friggin retarded. like it sounds like imagine if it was in the middle of a loading screen and you just smacked the system and it hiccuped.
im using .cdi's and bootdreams to load the games and i looked on one of the games that wasn't working and it looked like there were spaces in between the information that was inscribed on the disc while it was burning i've never seen that before. like usually it starts from the center of the disc and works out but on this one there were like rings
weird noises coming from dreamcast when playing backups
Re: weird noises coming from dreamcast when playing backups
The system does work with original games, right?

Re: weird noises coming from dreamcast when playing backups
it plays normal games just fine its just out of the 10 games i made backups of theres 2 or 3 of them that dont play and i got all the games from the same source and burnt them the same way. the bottom of the discs do look different as i mentioned for the ones that dont work i just dont know why. i even tried re-downloading and re-burning but its the same issue
the date on the bottom of the system is probably irrelevant cuz it plays most of my backups normally but it says march 2000

Use good media and burn at a slow speed 4x or slower, and see if that helps.

Yeah on that case it probably was a bad iso.ac_90 wrote:i think it might just be that the iso i got was messed up im gonna try downloading one from a different site and see if it helps

If you're using cdi images, why are you using a bootdisc? Are you not using Discjuggler?

Re: weird noises coming from dreamcast when playing backups
i narrowed down the problem to only Bust-a-Move 4. i drew a picture so i can explain it a bit better.
when you burn a game the inscribed information starts in the middle and works its way out to the edges of the disc right? that's a normal burnt disc.
whenever i burn bust a move 4 the information gets inscribed in a fucked up way:

i've never seen that happen before. it's not the program i'm using because this is the only game that's giving me trouble, and i downloaded the game from 3 different sites and they all gave me the same problem! WTF

Re: weird noises coming from dreamcast when playing backups
Just out of curiosity, what software are you using to burn games?
I used to use Alcohol 120% and get an 85% success rate. I since started using Discjuggler and it works 100% of the time and the games are all self booting.
