thanks for all your input guys, i was just concerned about whether hdloader.org will actually ship the merchandise. syd bolton's been kind of dodgy when i email him, so i wanted to know if anyone had previously placed an order with hdloader.com.

guess i'll just bite the bullet, wait another week or so, then raise a paypal dispute.

a little off topic but looking at his collection he mentions the software he uses to keep track of it all.

anyone use it?

I always found Delicious Library far more superior than any of the windows cataloguing programs (I tried them all before trying Delicious Library). Unfortunately it's Mac only. However it's cheap and doesn't require a bar code scanner to work. You hold the barcode up to your integrated iSight (on a mac laptop) or your stand alone iSight. It has been coded specifically for use with the iSight the algorithm only works on that webcam and it's surprisingly accurate. Only a few times have I had it not read a barcode and that was either because I was holding it wrong or it was a bit dirty.

I did the same thing and ordered HDLoader from HDLoader.org. However, my PayPal account said the payment was sent to a company called Pixel Power. There website says they are a web-developing company, so I'm a little worried that I might have to cancel my PayPal payment.

@dedalusdedalus: could you please give us an update and tell me whether or not you got your HDLoader disk? Thanks.

UPDATE

it's been about one and a half months, and i've received absolutely nothing in the mail. that, along with anecdotal evidence gleaned from other forums, leads me to believe that i've been scammed.

i raised a paypal dispute.

i'm thinking of reporting syd bolton. i know you can report internet fraud to the FTC, but they're apt to do absolutely nothing about it. complicating things is that this is an international transaction (syd bolton lives in canada), so i'm not even sure which law enforcement agency has jurisdiction. does anyone have any suggestions?

don't buy from that fat piece of shit. all you'll get is aggravation.

Thanks for your condolences, man.

But I don't think I'm completely shit outta luck b/c I paid with Paypal. The way I understand Paypal disputes, they tend to err on the buyer's side...so unless Syd can provide proof of mailing, they're likely to refund my money.

yeah typically no tracking number means buyer wins. if not, did you use a credit card as the source for the paypal transaction? If so, you're more likely to recover money if you win. also, on the off chance you lose your claim, you can chargeback paypal for the transaction through your credit card company. This is why I don't use a bank acct or paypal funds as the primary funds for my paypal purchases.

paypal hates chargebacks, and if they handle them like they did a few years back, they'll hit the seller for the amount of the charge plus a chargeback fee.

If you've been defrauded by Syd Bolton through hdloader.org, report him for postal fraud here:

https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/form ... laint.aspx

I also suggest filing a PayPal claim (and as skate323k137 pointed out--you get extra protection if you paid with credit card), since reporting postal fraud won't get your money back. But the authorities WILL investigate if they notice a pattern of fraudulent behavior.

I'm posting this here because this forum page has high visibility on google search. It's the fifth result when you search for "hdloader.org," so hopefully people with the same problem come across it.
