Did anyone else have one of these growing up? When all of my friends were playing their Atari 2600s I was happily playing Colecovision. It was a great system back in its day and had a lot of the classics of the day: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Frogger, Zaxxon, Mr. Do, Popeye, etc.
Here's an interesting video I just watched about Coleco.

I knew that Donkey Kong faced a lawsuit from Universal over King Kong, but I never heard about how that was resolved. Universal really shot themselves in the foot. haha! I also never knew that Coleco was short for COnnecticut LEather COmpany.

I never had a straight Colecovision, I had an Adam Coleco. Its still in the parents attic now that I think about it (with my uncles old Apple ][+). I loved how it would play Atari 2600 carts, we murdered some Combat on it back in the day. And Buck Rogers - best tunnel game ever.

Re: Colecovision
I didn't have one (I had Atari 800 & Intellivision) but I do remember going over a friend's house to play it. I was jealous of the great graphics for Donkey Kong at the time.

Great thing about the ADAM was that you could hook it up through AV instead of RF.fast wrote:I never had a straight Colecovision, I had an Adam Coleco. Colecovision was for the real enthusiast when I was a kid. I even had a friend who's dad wouldn't let us play his colecovision, we were relegated to the Atari.
Probably because the guy spent 300 bucks on the system.
I'm thinking about getting rid of my ADAM. It's 20 pounds that I don't need

Re: Colecovision
I have one, but awhile ago the games would display all scrambled. The 2600 add-on works perfectly though.

Re: Colecovision
The 2600 add-on is such an interesting historical relic. Can you imagine the fanboy nerd rage and monstrous corporate legal battles that would ensue these days if the Playstation 3 released a 360 add on to let you play Xbox games on your PS3?Metalcrack wrote:I have one, but awhile ago the games would display all scrambled.
