Just got back from a two week backpacking trip in New Mexico

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Just got back from a two week backpacking trip in New Mexico

Post by newt42 »

I've been pretty much out of the loop for the past two weeks. (The trip was a fun and incredible experience. I'll get pictures sometime soon.)

Anyway, what important info have I missed about the gaming industry in the past two weeks?
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Cimmaron. The property we hiked was Philmont.

We did climb Mt. Baldy. We were going to side hike the Tooth of Time the day after we got back from the trail, but realized that the crew was way too tired to do that. 10 day trek, itinerary 13, about 65 miles in all. Started at the upper part, and ended at mid.

I was last out there in 2000, and it looks like the itinerary we did is no longer offered. Mine was like 32 but with another 40 miles on top…Hey I use to be physically fit. On second to last day on the trail we went from Harlan through Cathedral Rock to Tooth of Time camp to catchup with our troop’s other crew. I don’t think I will ever walk more in a single day - Something like 29 miles with a 50 pound pack. I still have the trail maps I used to get us through it all somewhere – should probably get a frame for those.

It is an amazing experience isn’t it? You will find that very few people will ever do something like that, and of those who do, most know Philmont. When we were training for ours we were hiking the AT and the guys we talked to on it thought we were crazy for wanting to do the trek we did. Granted I am east coast so it is alittle different. The lack of humidity was blissful when hiking.

My dad lives on the east coast, and I definitely know what you mean by the humidity there. Its brutal during the summer. 29 miles in one day?!!? Dayum son!! My pack weighed about 48 pounds at the most.

It was certainly an incredible experience. If my troop plans another trip in the next few years, I'm going. I'll try to get the pictures from my step dad sometime soon.

Sorry this is not the place to talk about new mexico. This is a retro forum. You are only allowed to talk about the original mexico. That's where you go if you want a real challenge. No easy mode or tutorial bullshit. Drug dealers around every turn. Hell, even the water kills you.
