I don't exclusively listen to video game music, but it makes up a huge part of my music library: my current total of video game tracks and remixes is close to 8000, and that number just keeps growing.
So, it's hard to name everything I listen to, but here are a few that I keep coming back to more often than the others:
- Chrono Trigger (brilliant all around)
- Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV, Rome: Total War, and Braid (when I'm in a more somber or pensive mood)
- The Space Quest theme (so... epic)
- Mega Man of any kind (when I'm in a really upbeat mood), especially Mega Man X4--I feel it's got the strongest soundtrack out of any Mega Man game: the music is consistently awesome throughout the whole game, and the songs have several layers of instruments to help keep things interesting, and even the few slower, calmer songs are charged with energy to keep the game's momentum going.
- Lots of stuff from OCRemix

Got some more for you:
YS III for MD/Genesis
Shadow of the Ninja for NES (although in this case I'd say I prefer the slowed down music in PAL mode)

Man, NES Batman had such a badass soundtrack. I think it's one of the best for the NES.Pingfa wrote:Needless to say, there are plenty, so I'll name one that comes to mind for certain consoles:
NES Batman:
Genesis Gain Ground:
SMS Phantasy Star:
One awesome track I only found out about fairly recently is the original Turrican for Commodore 64:

There is a lot of good music on this thread. I need to check most, if not all of it out soon.

Ooh. Add Shogo: Mobile Armor Division to the list. Atmospheric, energetic, and sounds like it's straight out of an anime. Which is kinda the point, considering the whole game is kinda like an anime.

I love 8bitradio.com, they have some great stuff. Too bad they don't have a Blackberry app, I'd download it asap.
Still love Castlevania 4's soundtrack, Super Ghost and Goblins, DK Country (especially the underwater music, so relaxing), Streets of Rage, Sonic CD, Super Metroid, Mario 64, etc.....
