SNES ac adapter
So I need a new ac adapter for my snes. Where can I buy one that isn't junk? I don't think I need a licensed Nintendo one, but I don't want one of those ones that claims to work for the nes/snes/gen1 that most online retro shops hawk. Any stores that sell a good one with proper voltage?

Re: SNES ac adapter
I know what you mean you want Official. Be patient with Ebay and only buy when you can see the pic. Remember the end of the AC adaptor was gray in color just like the SNES console. And it would say on the bottom left Super Nintendo System.
If you were So Cal local I would trade you for a NES adaptor. 6 different NES systems and I cannot find any AC Adaptors.

Only get official as consoles age only the real deal should ever be used.fitterhans wrote:So I need a new ac adapter for my snes. Where can I buy one that isn't junk? Is there actually a reason for that, other than it 'seems' like a sound idea?Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Only get official as consoles age only the real deal should ever be used.

One it has an all around high build quality, two it won't randomly surge and kill your SNES.Breetai wrote:Is there actually a reason for that, other than it 'seems' like a sound idea?Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Only get official as consoles age only the real deal should ever be used.

Is that true? Do you have a source?Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:One it has an all around high build quality, two it won't randomly surge and kill your SNES.
I'm using an original adapter on my SNES(NTSC), but a Japanese Hori brand adapter on my Super Famicom (and Famicom).

Re: SNES ac adapter
Well Hori's a high quality Japanese company that is licensed by Nintendo to make all sorts of peripherals so I trust them. What I mean is that most of the time the new AC's you see on the net are old stock made in China in the 90's from a warehouse. One big issue I have with this is that in the 90's third parties were all pretty much crap with bad products that screwed up systems and damaged components so I'd much rather have an official power supply than a generic one that could possibly destroy my hardware.Breetai wrote:Is that true?
