Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I hope physical media lives on. I'm not big on the idea of downloading big releases. You can't trust it. Several of my xbox live arcade games have disappeared, and I don't want to have to deal with that kind of stuff.

If a system is download only I won't buy it. Simple as that.

I have a feeling the psp thing is not going to do well. Sure it might appeal to a certain group, but what about the under 12 market that handhelds make a killing off of? I think if you look at the age group that is downloading games/music/movies, about 90% of them are probably in the 14-25 group. When these companies make money off of kids, they're really making money off their parents. So to some degree, the parents have to understand the technology. How many 40 year old moms with 10 year old kids actually have their wii connected to a wi-fi connection. How many even know that's possible? And is the 10 year old or the 40 year old going to go through the hassle of comprehending a new form of distribution just to get this new psp? No. . . they're going to get a nintendo ds.

I'll also mention that I don't thinking digital distribution is at a point where people are really willing to make major purchases like $60 games. So what kind of games will there be for the psp? The iphone and ipod touch are popular for their cheap casual games. The PSP is supposed to be a "hardcore" system with "hardcore" prices, $30-$40. Are people going to spend that kind of money on a system they'll see as being in the same vein as the ipod/iphone?

Don't forget that internet + small children = fail in the US, as regardless of whatever parental lock are added to the hardware 90% of adults are too lazy to set them, or too scared of having a young child online.

While I applaud the attempt, I actually think this is the worst plank in MS's digital delivery platform. The main problem is price. These titles are all at least a year old, many of them 2-3 years old and almost all of them are $30, some are $40. That's BS when you can get them used for MUCH less. The only one that makes sense is Mass Effect for $20, which is only slightly above when you can get it for used, and even then there's no trade in potential.

I'm a supporter of DD, as I've said in other threads, but mostly in the sense that it allows interesting/niche/retro/indie stuff that we wouldn't have seen otherwise, at a fairly cheap price.

Another topic about this? Good! We need to help educate the idiots out there who are supporting this shit. And the PSP Go can "Go" to hell -_-;;

I'm ok with not doing physical media as long as I actually own the copy I download and am able to transfer it to a new owner (I still want to be able to sell my downloads!) also if these are downloads that means no manuals or boxes so I expect the price to be cheaper by say...10 bucks? Then I can deal with not having a physical copy lower the price and make ownership transferable.

I will not buy the PSP go, for one I really enjoy having the physical media, even if I don't have the box, which happens sometimes for used games. If you have download only you can't get games when you aren't near wifi, which also sucks, and the companys control the prices all the time. I like trading/borrowing games with my friends, which will not be possible with download only systems.

Recently I wanted to buy Fallout 3 for PC. The downloadable version was more than twice as expensive as buying the actual game (DVD and all). Insane.
Mostly harmless
