Games on Demand
Enjoy the convenience of finding and buying new games right from the comfort of your own living room. Download a wide selection of full Xbox 360 games over Xbox LIVE. Games on Demand will be available for purchase on Xbox LIVE starting August 11 as part of the Xbox LIVE Update. You will be able to browse and purchase games through the Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web starting August 13.
Coming in the new 360 update. Anyone who spends $60 to download a game is and idiot. Too bad I have a feeling this will be quite successful. I know we have beat this topic to death lately, but this is a big step in the wrong direction.
Other than that it looks like they unlocked more resolutions when using an HDMI cable, so now I will hopefully be able to run my tv in 1366 x 768 instead of 720p.
This will be very successful, IMO. Only because people will buy the game in the morning, leave it downloading and play it when they get back from work/school.
No more driving to your Game store.
Sucks because little by little we will lose physical media. The new PSP is going to be the next big step in this.
I like me those Arcade games, and the PSN games, but I want my case with Artwork. I pay for that too.
If physical media dies, then classic gaming in the future won't exist for those consoles. Consoles that have only digital games will have very little resources for games once the servers are taken down. Unless pirating/downloading those games exists, it's a lost cause...
Don't wory, as people start getting crewed over by licenses it'll become a popular but ultimately second to best form of distribution. Plus after working at GS, I ca safely say that people soundly enjoy being able to sell and buy used games.
Plus due to the PSP Go's download only content delivery GS is considering to not carry it at all.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I believe that they are trying this approach as a means of fighting Piracy. It won't work.

Oh I am sure that people will still buy and sell games outside of Digital Distribution. I just hope that developers don't decide to go Digital Only on systems other than the PSP.

Games should be cheaper than since it cuts down on production costs.
All the ladies they love me, from the bleachers they screamin
All the ballers is bouncin they like the way I be leanin
All the rappers be hatin, off the track that I'm makin
But all the hustlers they love it just to see one of us make it

I don't mind paying $60 for a game. I buy the game, as well as the artwork. Unlike when getting a toy as a kid, you don't throw away the packaging. It's the physical media that I can display and show. I'm not going to put my XBOX HDD on display.

That's interesting. Didn't know that.
Yup, GS's main bread and butter is the Used market now after they destroyed their reputation and removed all of their good products from their stores, so no used market is a huge loos in profits for the company that we can't really justify the risk on.
