Hmm...
X-Men Prototype for 32x
Re: X-Men Prototype for 32x
holy fuck that game looks awful. Probably a reason it got canned
Re: X-Men Prototype for 32x
I still don't think that looks like a 32X game. The polygon count seems kinda high, doesn't it?
It looks more like a early Saturn/PS1 game.

maybe. It looks like it could've been in the style of clayfighter though.racketboy wrote:I still don't think that looks like a 32X game. The polygon count seems kinda high, doesn't it?

Despite it's quality. Still.... pretty cool to check that out. I wonder if the rom is going to get dumped at some point.
Re: X-Men Prototype for 32x
Nah, it could definitely have been done on the 32x there's not much 3D in there. Only the box rooms. The sprites are just that, 2D sprites. Done in a similar way to DKC or Mortal Kombat.
The room textures are very low resolution and over all the game is very low resolution. That kind of basic geometry is definitely possible on the 32x. It's no more advanced than Doom.

It looks like it uses Raycasting, not polygons.

for real. When i was a kid clayfighter and mortal kombat made me freak out.racketboy wrote:OK -- gotta love those little tricks
here is a pic that got posted on reddit's gaming section a while ago. It is Goro's stop motion setup from MK1. I imagine they probably did something similar.

Somewhere out there is a bishop statue floating around with a defunct 32x cart.

Lol, I've got that picture. Physically real models used for stop-mo stuff absolutely fascinates me, like those pics of the clay sculptures they used for the baddies in Doom, or the monsters from Ray Harryhausen movies.nickfil wrote:for real.
