What game systems did you bring to college with you

Post by Metal Militia »

I know a lot of you have multiple game systems, and I'm just wondering what game systems you took to college with you or if your not in school yet which game systems would you take or if your going back to school soon like me which ones are you taking? I'm just curious because I'm going back to school in 2 weeks (FUCK) and I'm still debating which ones I should take. last year I brought my N64, Saturn, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, but that was to much stuff to bring. This year I'll probablly just bring the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. I would really love to bring my N64 cause I have a shit load of awesome games again and SNES, but I don't want to bring to much stuff because last year moving out was fucking hell with all my games and all the my other shit I had to move out. I'll probably stick with the 3 next gen consoles, but who knows

In undergrad, I brought pretty much everything except for my APF TV FUN and Atari 2600. Post-grad, I had every single one of my consoles with me.

I always lived in an apartment though, there would have been no way to have had all my games and consoles in a dorm room. If I did live in a dorm room however, I would have brought the SNES, NES, Genesis, and PS2. No reason to bring a system with backwards compatibility.

I lived at home. I was in college from 93-99 and had the Genesis (w/CD) SNES and the PS1 at the end. With my first "real" paycheck after college I bought a Dreamcast on the release date - I was so proud!

I bought a Dreamcast.............. 5 years after it was released for $40 at Funcoland  . I'm living in the dorms this school year. I am probably going to bring the next gens because most of the new people I probably meet aren't really going to be interested in playing an old Genesis, Jaguar, and Saturn games.

My sophomore and freshman year i brought my Wii, Dreamcast, 360, Saturn, Genesis, and N64. This year I'm just bringing up my ps3 (360 crapped out for the 3rd time last November) and Dreamcast or SNES, since I'm still in a dorm I don't have enough room for all those consoles :(

take the Wii and make use of the Virtual Console. Then you're covered on all angles! :)

Good advice.
But just remember to bring whatever you like.

I brought my Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube with me to college. I figured Game Boy, Game Gear, NES, SNES and N64 emulation was good enough that I didn't need to worry about bringing those systems with me. I later ended up getting a Wii and PS3, and so I left the Gamecube at home. I also later ended up rooming with a Xbox 360 owner, so I then left my Xbox at home. I got a Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis and Retro Duo while I was up there (We had one hell of a bangin' flea market), and so they were with me up there as well.

Even though every room-mate I've had has had a PS2, mine was the only one that could play imports and backups, so I never left it at home.

Now that I'm back at home, I need to make room for all the systems I got while I was up there.

When I was in college, I was just getting back into console gaming after a long time off.
But I played a lot of emulators on my laptop those days.
I did play some Half-Life and Mario Kart 64 those days too in other guys' rooms.
I also bought my first Dreamcast as I was finishing up college (right after it was announced Sega was giving up on it)

I feel old now.
