I don't get it
as a "hardcore" gamer I will enjoy good games
how come the casual gamer enjoys bad games?
they are bad, they are NOT enjoyable
There is difference between simple and bad. Yes you need a million buttons to operate something like Halo, but you can have good games with simple buttons configuration. They don't have to be BAD games. Those are not "casual" they are BAD games, why buy them.

Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
casual gamers typically tend to buy on the basis of content, commercial license or box art. quality rarely comes into play during checkout.kingmohd84 wrote:I don't get it

unfortunately, the casual gamer is easily fooled. they are promised fun so they believe that's what they get. and of course the casual gamer consists of the typhical person who does not know much about games and then there are some kids who see ponies on the cover and automatically wants. its a shame because with these being sold so well it promts others to make shovelware because its cheap. the wii has a lot more potential as we can see its just nor being used right.

Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
The sad thing is hundreds of great free games are released every year. There are a lot of flash games that I would pay $20 for before I'd buy any of these crap wii games. The people who develop those games should look into selling their stuff for wii at retail.

This is why i have the twilight hack, i own a total of 3 wii games. And i can't remember playing anything that was released exclusively on the wii that made the system worth owning.

Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
i personally am totally for shovelware. it makes it easier to compile all of the good games for a certain system (or generation, in this particular case), and it also feeds money back into the industry so games like brutal legend don't get canned.
duh.
duh.

You're not trying very hard, as there are a couple dozen games worth experiencing on the Wii.jackspicer wrote:This is why i have the twilight hack, i own a total of 3 wii games. And i can't remember playing anything that was released exclusively on the wii that made the system worth owning.
Anyway, shovelware floodgates have been open since the Atari 2600 and NES. Hell, even PS2 had it's mind numbing share of it, as well. When your console is #1 on the market, every greedy bastard has to get his share of the action, so you see thousands of no-name devs making no-name games to sell to less-than-informed Wii owners.
Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
One of my good friends is one those casual gamers. Based on what I know of him over the years, casual gamers are unwilling to learn "complicated games" like Twilight Princess and instead would rather play a game they already know about such as some sports or racing title. My friend feels intimidated by the controls of Twilight Princess even though he would agree that it is a remarkable game. For him, he would rather pick up a game for 20-30min and be done with it. That means his library would be filled with casual games - and most of those games are indeed crap.kingmohd84 wrote:I don't get it

A couple dozen? Really? I have had a Wii for several years and have bought plenty of games for it - but I don't think there are 20 I would recommend.HellHammer wrote: You're not trying very hard, as there are a couple dozen games worth experiencing on the Wii.
EDIT - Ok, I was going to disagree completely, but then I found this:
http://www.giantbomb.com/wii/60-36/list ... 35-255210/
Still, once you strip the sports/music games or games that have been done elsewhere (usually better), there are scarcely two dozen I'd recommend. If you strip out the WiiWare titles, there's even less...

Here is a good link of what games should be remade (or what new games should be like) with motion controls:
