I don't think I have had more than 4 hours of sleep for any day the past 3 months. I have tried a few over the counter sleep aids and none of them had any effect, and I was prescribed Ambien. With Ambien I would go to sleep earlier but wake up feeling crappier than when I don't get enough sleep. It also made me sleep walk.( I never left the house or anything, but what if I did? A scary thought)
I also have to be at one of my jobs 7 days a week at 7 o'clock, so I don't even have the option to sleep in.
So anybody have the same problem and found a good(preferably not prescribed or illegal) solution? Im tired of being tired.
Anybody have insomnia?

Re: Anybody have insomnia?
I do. I haven't slept in 3 days. I don't know why...I just can't sleep. I tried last night but I was up playing my DS all night. Ugh..I'm sick of it. I cut the grass today and thought that it would tire me out...but it didnt. And I can't find anything to put me to sleep. I'm wide awake..miked wrote:I don't think I have had more than 4 hours of sleep for any day the past 3 months. Re: Anybody have insomnia?
I'm quite the opposite -- I feel tired too often.
My brother has trouble sleeping at times, however -- he usually takes something like Tylenol PM or some "normal" med that happens to make you drowsy. However, if the meds you tried don't do the trick, that probably won't either.
Do you ever feel tired/drowsy, but just can't sleep?

Always. I usually just stare blankly at the tv at night, but if I go lay down I will just stare at the ceiling for a few hours.racketboy wrote:Do you ever feel tired/drowsy, but just can't sleep?
Kholdstare: 3 days?!? Im glad I at least get 4 hours now.
Also I forgot to mention how it effects my mood. I totally flipped out on some poor guy at the Subway drive through the other day. He was being an ass, but he totally didn't deserve the things I said to him.

Yeah, that totally sucks.miked wrote:Always. I usually just stare blankly at the tv at night, but if I go lay down I will just stare at the ceiling for a few hours.racketboy wrote:Do you ever feel tired/drowsy, but just can't sleep?

I had the same problem when I was 19-24, and at that time I was also a smoker. Here are a few suggestions:miked wrote:No caffeine, but Im a bad cigarette smoker. Usually a pack a day.
Don't eat after 6pm. Make it a rule with no exceptions.
Get into bed at least one hour before you actually want to go to bed.
(one of my problems is that i would always get sleepy somewhere else, but as soon as I went to bed *Bam* I was wide awake again)
Unplug all land line phones, and shut off your cell phone. If you have a smart phone like I do, the blinking lights and vibrating will keep you up.
Don't talk to family or anyone you are in a relationship with for at least an hour before you go to sleep.
Plus, don't think/talk about anything that may bother you an hour before you want to go to sleep, especially work/school/finances.
Turn off the TV!
Do as many push-ups as possible before you go to bed. This helps if you easily get restless.
Read a book after you get into bed. The Hobbit always knock me out.
This might sound silly, but replay a favorite movie os tv show in your mind with your eyes closed. It'll relax you more than you would think.
Listen to a book on tape if reading isn't your forte, on low volume, barely a whisper.
Hope this helps man, but mainly, it's about establishing a sleeping pattern. You can always set your alarm for 4am, and you would be amazed on how quickly you'll feel tired.

Re: Anybody have insomnia?
I've been tired all the time but can't sleep- until I take melatonin. That actually sort of helps. Benedryl should help, too.
Sega Genesis (Model 2), Sega CD, Sega 32X, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Game Boy Family, Phillips CD-i Model 910, NES, Atari 5200, Virtual Boy, Atari Jaguar, Playstations 3-4
Re: Anybody have insomnia?
Melatonin and white noise generators, along with exercise helped me with my insomnia. I've also got that restless legs thing, so I used to routinely go four and five days in a row without sleep--I'd have hallucinations, weird blackouts. It sucked.

when i had sleeping problems
i countered it with daily exercize
i tried sleeping pills before and i felt really crappy waking up
sometimes taking pills becomes just a bandaid
