This just came out on Xbox Live on Wednesday Aug. 5th. I'm kind of surprised there isn't a topic about it here yet. Maybe it fell off really quickly, but I searched and found nothing in depth.
My initial response to it is: blech. After thinking about it for a while, it isn't too bad, I guess.
Before I go on, I knew before I played it that it was a remake of the arcade version, and not the SNES version. I was fully prepared for missing levels and boss characters.
The first thing I noticed was that the enemies are merciless. Even on easy, everyone hits me when I'm down. Fighting Leatherhead, I can get hit 3 times by his charge move before I recover from the first hit. I don't remember that from the original, but what the hey, I have 9 lives! The next thing I am ashamed to say I didn't notice until Sewer Surfing: the music is NOT the original, remixed or otherwise. In a vacuum, the music might not be bad, but for TMNT (funny, I just now see that the acronym for Turtles in Time is NSFW) it is just sad. The music for Bury My Shell at Wounded Knee in particular is obviously out of character for the level and the genre.
In short, I wanted to love this game but I ended up sorely disappointed. It is still fun beating up Foot Soldiers by the bowlful, but it doesn't even come close to replacing TMNT IV for SNES. The original arcade game unlockable on TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare is better, in my opinion. At least it has the original music. One good thing: this game has taught me to always try the demo before I buy.
Grade: D+
P.S. Also, I miss the first Shredder fight from TMNT IV terribly!

yeah i heard it was bad. dissapointing, really. if konami had their hands in it, it probably wouldve been better..

Wait, Konami didn't take part in this? I guess that makes sense then...latenitevacancy wrote:yeah i heard it was bad. dissapointing, really. if konami had their hands in it, it probably wouldve been better..

i could be wrong, but i dont think that they did. as far as i know it was done by ubisoft, since konami doesnt have the turtles license anymore. but like i said, i could be wrong.

Re: Turtles in Time: Reshelled
I've hated everything I've seen from this game since day one. Awful graphics. Bland, bullshit art style, all that amazing music we loved? GONE! Or at the very least, it was so horribly remixed and downplayed that it doesn't resemble the original score at all. Fucking fail....
Re: Turtles in Time: Reshelled
Well thanks for the heads up guys. I was about to drop the $10 on this, but I think I will stick with the snes version or mame.
