What should I ask from Japan (Tokyo)

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What should I ask from Japan (Tokyo)

Post by Ivo »

Hi guys,

I have a friend in holidays in Tokyo that asked me if I wanted to buy something from Japan as she could bring it to me. Do you have any suggestions? A DS Lite was my first idea, but that seems to be cheaper in the US anyway so I'll help for someone to make the trip to US instead :P (and I'm in Europe actually with a different voltage).

I'd suggest getting a Turbo Duo, Turbo Duo R, or Turbo Duo RX, considering those are prolly the only things you can't import all that cheap...Either that or an A/V Famicom I guess.

Buying a Japanese PS3 is cheaper then getting a US one (at least with the current US Dollar / Yen exchange rate), if you don't really care about PS1/2 games being region locked. And your not paying for shipping either I guess. Pretty good deal I would think.

Good suggestions but I'm not going to shell out for a PS3 yet.

What nice games are there for the Turbo Duo? I was never much informed on Turbografx consoles.

In any case, I'm looking for suggestions that aren't necessarily game related as well (although I guess this is not the best forum for that :) )

Well, for turbo duo you can play a bunch of cool shmups and simply get them off the internet and burn them to a CD-R. Combine that with a PC Engine flash cart and you can play pretty much every game for the system! :D

As to other things to buy while in Japan, really depends on what your interests are. They have a bit of everything tbh. I'm sure GrittyKitty should have a few good suggestions though.
