DON'T YOU DARE compare anything like the Super Mario Bros film to Big Trouble in Little China!

Big Trouble in Little China was the pinnacle of John Carpenter's career. Any movie with Lo Pan in it is deserving of all the accolades one could bestow on it.

But ultimately it's about a blue collar kind of guy and a blue collar kind of girl getting sucked into an entirely different world, in some ways reminiscent of our own, in some ways entirely different, and in some ways utterly ridiculous. Both had entirely over-the-top villains, relatively mindless plots, and were built solely around the same thing we turn to games for: having fun.

It's just one's based on a game property that we all cherish. Hence why folks despise it.
