well, racketboy.com has outgrown its economy hosting plan.
I don't know if you have noticed in the last month or two, but there have been times were there has be "Service Unavailable" error messages on the site.
Since the side has been growing to well over 2,000 unique visitors a day I've needed to go up a level on the hosting plans to give the site some more breathing room.
On the plus side, I also have more storage and bandwidth (which I never used up anyway)
BTW, if you are shopping for hosting, don't just look at bandwidth -- it doesn't really mean a lot unless you are hosting audio or video.
Anyway, I don't mind paying a bit more if it means more people are checking the site out.
Just Upgraded The Hosting Plan
Nope its still shared.Mozgus wrote:I'm still not sure what the problem was, if you didn't even come close to touching your bandwidth and space limits. I assume you got a dedicated host now, instead of shared? Because thats the only other way I could think of improving the situation.
I don't totally understand it.
But it seems to be one of those things that Godaddy doesn't advertise...

I'm not surprised you use shared hosting... dedicated hosting is a lot more expensive.
The main reason it will slow down is that you and several other websites are running off the same server. All of which keep getting banged by multiple visitors all day long. The resources of that single server (or group of servers shared) can get eaten up quickly like that, but it keeps the price of the hosting down as one administrator can maintain and upgrade multiple websites simultaneousily in case of anything breaking or going down. Bandwidth isn't a question hear... as their advertised bandwidth is the overall bandwidth you get through out the month... not the instantaneous bandwidth you're alotted for every moment of the day.
Where as a dedicated hosting plan is your own computer hooked up to the network. Obviousily more expensive.

Exactly. Only people making good money with their site are going to be able to afford dedicated.lordofduct wrote:I'm not surprised you use shared hosting... dedicated hosting is a lot more expensive.

I can always switch back, but I wanted to upgrade anyway so I can host multiple sites/plan on one plan.
