Is there a site that has a comprehensive move list for the more popular fighting games?
I usually use something like ign and go over the guides, but they're so text heavy and hard to read.
I'm looking for something with nice icons to display the moves (much like the in game menu of SSF2THDR). Also a clip of the move would be a bonus.

Re: Comprehensive Move List
i can't help you with that one, but i really have to say that if such a site DOESN'T exist, someone needs to put one up, stat.
you're right, fighting moves really don't translate well on gamefaqs.

Unfortunately, StrategyWiki doesn't have everything, and they rarely ever keep up to date. However, if you are looking for popular fighting games (and by popular, I mean "Average Person" popular. So, SFIV? Yes. BlazBlue? No.)and the moves explained just like the command lists in Capcom fighters, this place has you covered.
Still looking for some combos/strategies for Clark, Kensou and Iori on KOFXII. Tired of getting owned by all the Joe Higashi players out there.

I was using this for MKII, that is, until I got it all memorized.

go to the forums and you will find the most information on fighting game strategy in the world. There are many different ways moves, strategies, and fighting games in general are broken down. If you want to learn about fighting games you have to learn the jargon that the people who play them use. Many people link to youtube video's of the complicated stuff so you can see the timing/input of how they work. All good stuff.

Re: Comprehensive Move List
I have always thought this would be a handy website. Ill be honest, I am rubbish at fighters, but I thought it would be alot easier to learn with proper pictoral guides for moves, like the bezels in the arcade, and video. Shoryuken is a fantastic resource, but if you do not understand the genre at a moderate level it is very daunting.
Hmm, maybe that is a worthwhile idea to revisit. Something like this:

But for more titles

Re: Comprehensive Move List
I've been playing fighting games for ages, and Shoryuken still looks like Greek to me. I just flat-out can't understand even half of the shit they have there.
For example, here is this combo for Kensou in KOFXII:
cc qcb+A XX qcb+C x2 f+C (cc breaks) j.C s.C s.C+D dp+C (8 hits) qcb+A XX qcb+C XX dp+D
Huh? I get the 'qcb' and the 'dp', but almost everything else confuses me. What's more, they have a Wiki, but I can't just look 'cc' or 'XX' or 'x2' up to figure out what the hell is going on.

Re: Comprehensive Move List
What bugs me is that fighting communities have started adopting the numpad notation. You know, fireball is now 236+P. What was wrong with qcf, hcb, and dp?

Re: Comprehensive Move List
Really, written descriptions of combos are just hard on the eyes, and I don't know if there's any way to solve that. There's no effecient way to do it without writing a long list of LKs and CHPs and whatever as the7k said, or as Mr. Popo said some sort of strange numbered encryption. I guess the problem stems from how complicated these games are in general.

Re: Comprehensive Move List
yeah the input chains can be really really hard on the eyes and head I agree. That KOF input chain is completely nuts.
