Need a bit of help wanna get into games as a business

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Three words.

Buy
In
Bulk

Buy bundles of games from ebay/classifieds/craigslist. My friend does this all the time (apart from craigslist as we don't have that in the UK) and makes a profit by reselling on ebay.

I plan on being like gamestop making my money mostly off of people trading in. I'm only going to be buying from gamestop when they have 25% off deals and buy 2 get1 frees and thats only if its a good deal other than that I'm going to use craigslist, thrift stores, and garage sales.

Even put an ad on Craigslist or in your local paper saying you pay cash for used games. Never pay more than 25% of what an item can be sold for.
This is what I was going to say.

I wish you nothing but the best of luck, but this sounds like a bad idea. I'm not 100% sure, but I think gamestop makes the majority of their money off of reserves and the selling of new games and consoles, not off of trade ins. That's just an assumption, and I'm not sure if that information would be included in their annual report. I'm sure they sell a lot of used games, but I would bet they make the bug bucks on newer games.

I'm sure all information about business licenses in Cali can be found somewhere at www.california.gov

Ummm...I think if your source of income is currently your birthday and christmas...maybe you aren't financially ready to start stockpiling video games for a storefront.

Nope, GS makes 90% of it's money through used games, used systems and in store advertisements.

That ten cent trade in you get for the PS2 game that gets resold by us for $20 is a perfect example of how GS makes it's money.

MSRP also prevents us from pricing consoles any higher, and since for example that $99 PS2 costs GS $95 to buy from Sony we make about $5-$10 per unit sold and therefore cannot price them any lower without actually loosing money. The same applies to all new games and accessories as well.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS
