Update: I didn't find anyone locally who knows how to fix MVS. So I decided to give it another shot. My MVS has not been switched on for about 2 months. I hooked it up and switched it on. And it seemed to work well - the game booted, sound was ok, everything was fine. However after about 5 minutes the sound died. On rebooting it was all back to the Z80 Error screen every time I try.
Does anyone have any clue why it might have worked temporarily after being turned off for 8 weeks?
I think my MVS died.

Mostly harmless

The first thing I would think of would be it overheating. That's usually the case when something starts to work and then dies.

Thought about that. Switched it off and examined every inch - everything at room temperature. Switching it on after a few hours did not make it work again.MrPopo wrote:The first thing I would think of would be it overheating. That's usually the case when something starts to work and then dies.

Z80 is just broke. You can attempt to replace it, it's a common chip. Maybe?
