I think I have a good blanket statement to know if piracy is good or bad.

If someone who would normally buy a product, instead chooses to use a pirated version, it's wrong. In this case, punishment seems fair and the creators have a right to complain about not getting paid for their work.

The opposite is also true. If someone who would not normally buy a product, instead uses the pirated version, it's fine. The creators wouldn't get money from the guy anyway, so no harm there.

It's important to understand that laws exist to control people and more importantly to make money. It's not about doing whats "right" or "moral" or "safe". Making money is way more important than all of that stuff, sadly.

We should be free to commit suicide outright or fuck with our minds through the use of drugs, if we want. However, it becomes a problem if your suicide or drug use negatively affects others. Instead of making laws to prevent people from harming others, they do it based on money and control. The government isn't making any money from all these street drugs, not even taxes. Therefore it upset them and became illegal.

Prostitution is another great example of bullshit laws. Just because they don't make money from it, it upsets them enough to outlaw it. Can someone tell me why prostitution is morally wrong? I agree that it's "wrong" according to laws but is it truly wrong? Keep in mind the many forms of legal prostitution that are available, such as dating and marriage.
