Why did they make this cart so big? Is there a reason for it?

Do you mean Virtua Racing? It was likely because it had to store 3d models. I believe it used a special chip as well, the sega virtua processor or something like that.

Yup -- it's the special processor -- kinda like the 3DFX chips in the SNES carts, but a bit better (and more expensive). The thing retailed for like $100 when it came out. (much more with inflation)

Pretty sure it was simply because of a special chip inside the cart that gave the Genesis some extra horsepower to do Virtua Racing (polygons and such, much like the FX chip in Starfox SNES carts).

Yeah, the game didn't look that great compared to the arcade, but it had a great , ripping sense of speed

Incredibly random note about VR on Genesis:
I don't think it works through a 32X (not that it matters too much since the 32X had Virtua Racing Deluxe anyway
