My house is full of random packages each and everyday. Between my gaming collection and my wife's random craft project of the week both our mailman, UPS, and Fedex guys know us by first name. And vise versa.
But it seems everytime my 360 makes a round trip to Texas and back I get giddy as a school girl wanting for my UPS driver to pull up. This RROD is my 3rd with two systems and it doesn't get old.
Except dealing with MS ... that's a totally different color horse with a new name I will not repeat.
Just thought I'd share.

know whats even more like xmas? Buying a new 360 when your warranty expires!
Re: RROD - It's like Christmas anytime of the year
What amazes me is how popular the 360 is despite the extremely poor build quality. Even the original Xbox was total garbage! Goes to show you people, myself included are really dumb and will buy anything thats medicore. Sony amazes me even more how bad they fucked up as well. They were on top of the world with PS2 and now there losing to a console with a almost 100% fail rate "I say 100% because everyone I know has had a issue with there 360." They both suck and thats why I enjoy mostly retro games. I love the simpicity of the whole turn on and just play mechanic. No 600MB patches to download everytime I try to play, no installs and very few hardware issues. Just turn on and start playing I love it.

The oXbox had some issues, but the PS2 by far wins the award for shittiest hardware of the last generation. And how they handled it when DVD drives first started going out was just damn embarrassing.corn619 wrote:Even the original Xbox was total garbage!
The 360 is one ugly situation, but at least Microsoft can admit that there really is a problem......

I'm on my 3rd 360 and finally out of the warranty period, I am hoping beyond all hope this one doesn't bite it.otaku wrote:know whats even more like xmas? Buying a new 360 when your warranty expires!
They always seem to die right when I finally get a game I've been drooling over (Forza 2 on my first one, died into the 3rd race. The Orange Box on the second one, died about 30 minutes into Half Life 2). Considering Forza 3, BioShock 2, and a plethora of other 360 games I am really stoked about are out "soon", I'm just waiting for it to shoot craps on me again.
Also, when the hell is HL2: Episode Three due out? What length in Valve time is "we're not releasing any info at this time"? Four years?
Systems: Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis 3, Genesis 2, 32X, Sega CD (model 2), Saturn (model 1), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox (Modded), Xbox 360, GameBoy, GBA SP, Game Gear, PSP... always adding more
Re: RROD - It's like Christmas anytime of the year
well the 360 succeeds despite its hardware because of its games and live service thats why I keep buying one. They really need to make sure they don't screw up the next one
Re: RROD - It's like Christmas anytime of the year
I got mine in november 06 and it's still alive. Didn't microsoft extend the warranty for everyone though? As soon as I bought mine I got the 2 year warranty (got doubled charged and it was hell getting my other $60 back). After finally settling that I got the news that they had extended the warranty to 3 years. I'm still confused whether my warranty extends that to another 2 years up to 5 years. Otherwise the $60 I spent for a 2 year warranty is pointless if it comes with a 3 year warranty.

Re: RROD - It's like Christmas anytime of the year
I just had my second 360 rrod on me. It sucks because it is an Elite. It's currently away at repair now and man do ms Australia suck with thier warranty service. My experience so far has led me to decide that I will no longer buy anymore games for the 360 unless they are exclusive titles that I can't buy for the PS3 or PC and are absolute must have games.
This is why I don't beleave we'll have retro gamers on the 360 in the future, because there will be no hardware left working for us to use. I'm seriously finding myself becoming a PS3 fanboy, simply because ms have pushed me toward that with shitty hardware and shitty service.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Do any of you 360 users use an external fan to keep the unit cooler? I've heard those things work at preventing RRODs.

I have never had a RRoD...I watched a guys do it...but thats it. I have had several just sold um as I was sick of the same ol crap and got it when something else came out I wanted to really play. The last one now is a jasper and no issues so far. I could only imagen how pissed I would be though.
