I moved with my parents into a new house a little over a year ago (July 08). Since we moved there have been a lot of boxes that I haven't unpacked because I honestly don't really use the stuff in them and want to keep my space clean-ish. Lately I have been going through the boxes just to see what is in them and combine multiple boxes/clean up the closet. Well, today when I was looking through boxes I found a package of Chewy Chips a Hoy cookies that look like this: http://www.toucandy.com/images/P/0000066381.jpg
The bag has this sticky label so you can reseal the package after you eat some... and apparently I had eaten some, packed the bag up, and forgot about it for 1 year. So I decided that it would be interesting to taste a cookie to see how they held up after that long after being opened/resealed. The cookies tasted almost exactly like brand new ones! I honestly couldn't tell at all that they were a year old. Right now I'm currently eating the rest of them and haven't gotten sick; thought you guys might find that interesting.
That's amazing! I would think that after being opened, they would have died after a few weeks. I guess when they designed that seal, they did a good job. (or there are A LOT of preservatives in those suckers)
That is so incredibly scary to me. Crap like that is why my diet is mostly organic or low ingredient count foods. I honestly am afraid of what we eat nowadays. I swear you've just scared me awake for another two hours.

Wow, I've never heard of someone who was afraid of cookies before.

I had a friend in middle school who discovered some soda in his grandmother's pantry that hadn't been in production since the 1970s. He said it tasted just fine.
