No more VC for the Wii?

Post by SpaceBooger »

When queried about the slowed VC support, a customer service rep replied with what we've all seen coming but hoped wasn't true.
"We understand your concern about the lack of service on the VC as of late. Due to sales numbers being far greater recently on WiiWare than on Virtual Console, we have decided to steer in the direction of WiiWare."

I have a couple questions about this:
1. True or not?
2. If it's true, should I buy all the VC games I want now or will they continue to sell the ones already released?
3. If they stop VC can I redownload the ones I already purchased again if there is no VC service?

I doubt that they'd cancel support or use of the current titles, would they? Nintendo wouldn't be that mean...right?

Nintendo is a freaking bitch.

They refuse to license the titles that everyone is asking for, and then wonder why less people are buying VC.

Seriously, what the hell? :?

My guess is they just won't be releasing any new stuff.

Oh well. I vastly regret buying the few VC games that I did.

So, Nintendo is discontinuing VC, Microsoft has apparently already discontinued original Xbox games for download on XBLA... looks like we have a trend brewin'...

I wonder if this is the reason TG-16 titles are appearing on PSN.

WTF??

Doesn't Nintendo realize that getting rid of VC will keep people from buying classic games? Or are they just retarded?

Which is strange, because logically they should be getting rid of the BAD ideas, not the GOOD ideas.

I say we bombard them with e-mails until they change their minds. If they hear from the fans, they'll have to give in. Otherwise, we lose our faith in them and in the end, THEY lose.

How did any of you misconstrue that quote to mean that Nintendo will be discontinuing VC? It clearly implies that they simply intend to focus more on WiiWare than with VC, which is already the case. Some weeks are purely WiiWare releases.
