Saturn Light Gun problem...

Post by ilpostino »

Anyone versed in repairing the MK-80311 Official Sega Saturn Lightgun?

I've just recently bought a Saturn from eBay (Racketboy I'll be getting a modchip soon!), and I got a gun along with Virtua Cop 2. I had tried it on my own television, but it didn't work. I had put it down to the fact that I had a HD LCD TV (to be honest, I wasn't sure that was a viable reason, but never mind), so thought nothing more of it.

I've just tried it on a CRT Television, and still nothing happened. I thought that maybe the gun wasn't calibrated, and went to the calibration screen, but couldn't fire the gun.

I have noticed that after the thing is plugged in, I might get one shot (and see the flash onscreen), then nothing.

If anyone can shed any light on what might be happening here, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

what kind of CRT

Post by alexkidd »

I have a CRT but it's an HDTV. I can get the gun to register on the screen but it's waaaaay off of where I aim (think a few feet, totally unplayable). The same gun works fine on an old standard tv I have. For now I'm using the analog 3D pad, which is a step up for gun games from the standard d pad. I want to try to use a mouse too, I'm guessing the mouse will be the best solution to play saturn gun games.

The second TV I used it on is just a standard def CRT TV. Basically a normal telly.

That sucks, I'd have no clue how to fix it. I know on eBay there are some guns that are for PS/Saturn combo that make it a little easier to find a gun for Saturn if you don't have to have the official Sega one.
