so what has everyone been up to?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Hmm...

I've been working two jobs besides writing for here(and one other website), one of which requires I show up and watch a lab, the other requires I go through statistical data for about 60 different library schools and compile it all in one set of tables. The semester is swiftly coming to an end(thank God), so my section of the research project I've been working on will be ending with it. We've been working on getting everything setup so the project can really begin, including getting all the necessary approval, writing up all legal forms, finding relevant articles/journals/conferences, etc. After this, it's three classes to graduation!

I also got to spend the weekend with my girlfriend, which was nice since we hadn't gotten to see each other for several weeks. Since I had to move across state last year to go to grad school and we're both pretty poor, scraping together gas money can be a problem. But hopefully I'll be done by Christmas. I'm also attempting to plot out some kind of trip in a couple of weeks so I can get over to Atlanta and visit some friends there.

Beyond that, my youngest brother just turned 18, so that's a bit of an odd feeling. And I've done a little creative writing and have plans to do a little more, whenever I find the time.

Congrats on the marriage!

cool man! I've had the urge to build shelves and learn some carpentry (I'm totally new at it) for a while, but it is hard to find the space here in the city to do it, so I either have to jump in and rent space or just kinda lust from afar. So far it has just been the latter, but i'm hoping to get some space in the next 3 or 4 years. Also cool that you are getting married. congrads.

I am moving to another apartment a block away here in philly at some point in august. Once I do i was going to take some new pics of the gaming setup there, as a lot has changed in the year or so that i've been posting here. The new apartment is smaller unfortunately, but it is a one bedroom and i'll be by myself which will be nice. It is just going to be a challenge to get all the crap that i've acquired through the years in there. In addition to taking some gameroom pics, i was going to throw some stuff on the buy/sell/trade. Try to save some space.

I've been working myself to death in preparation of the move and buying some new furniture. On my plate is a backup for batman: streets of gotham, 28 days later, luke cage noir, punisher noir, and powers is starting up again. Powers is a double issue, so all in all it is about 110 pages a month. Thankfully, not everything comes in all at once and some of it has due dates that are kinda far in the future letting me be a little flexible. However, the shear mass of work means i haven't had a day off in a little over a month or so. ugh.

I really want to get out to the bar sometime soon, but just haven't had the time. ugh!

I lost my job at Harris Teeter's, my girlfriend dumped me last week, I've been having migraines in one spot on my forehead and the doctors told me that it was stress related and I'm only 19! I start school in fall hopefully, so that's something to look forward to. Other than that playing games and looking for work..... :? :x

I've been trying to avoid death by heat exhaustion. Fucking Seattle and its total lack of air conditioning in residences. It's going to be mid-90's all week and my portable AC unit just can't keep up.

Congratulations, you now know something of what it's like to live in the South. Only imagine that every day for the past three months, and at least for another month. Along with the humidity.

I've been studying for my oceanography final for a couple days now and it is stressing me the F**k out. I'm really scared about it, but I have a two more days to study for it. Its Thursday night at 7. Other than that, Just been chilling with my friends, have been playing a lot of UFC Undisputed 2009 for PS3 and Street Fighter IV trying to learn how to play as Akuma, (my character is RYU if it isn't obvious.)

Actually- i hire a local freelancer prepping pages for me, and a studio in south Korea when he can't finish the job as quickly as i would like. If i'm down to the wire or something like that. But, part of my plan is to hire out people to color under my name. Obviously everything would go through me so i can check it for quality and all that. The freelancer would make like 75% of the page rate. So like- you know... a good amount of cash, and i take a small fee.

The problem that i have is that I can't find people who want/can actually put the work in to learn the craft. Either they have the time, but not the drive. Or the drive and willing to learn, but not the time... blah blah blah. Thing is, I can't start people off with punisher pages, so I start with less glamorous stuff and people just.... realize it is a lot of work and that they don't really want to do it.

Comics are fun to read- and a shit ton of work. :)

anyway- if anyone wants to send me pages they've colored, I love to check out art good or bad. And hell, I might have jobs. Or at least i can point you in the right direction of how to improve your stuff.

Humidity is the key word there. I grew up in Texas and it gets damn hot there, but in the Dallas region it is relatively dry compared to many of the southern states. I spent some time in Savannah one summer and decided to go for a run, thinking it would be no worse than my usual exercise in the Texas heat. A block later I was drenched and ducking into a local diner for a slice of pecan pie and some tea. Turns out that was a lot more enjoyable anyway.

As for what I've been up to--it seems I've over committed myself this summer so I'm working on about five research projects at the same time. My goal is to commit to nothing next summer, and slack off as much as is humanly possible.
