Wow that is quite a story! At least it was covered and fixed at their expense. Why were you using a stepdown converter? Do you have foreign appliances from Europe/Australia or something?

I'm lucky most of Japan is compatible with USA voltage standards. My laptops would be toast probably if it weren't for that.

I lived in Korea before I came here and had some Korean electronics. I'm from Canada, so happily all of my systems will work fine when I move back. My only 220v system is my X-Box from Korea, but I've already converted it to 110v. I don't use a converter anymore.

Beats me. Different countries adopted different power standards. Probably financial reasons.

www.sashimigames.com is an excellent place to track down rare/hard to find items at a decent price - the guy there jason is trustworthy and responds personally to each email. good for tracking down AES etc..

Exactly! Everything I want here, I can find... except American games. I can find some, especially on new systems, but older games are difficult.
