Just make sure your write method is RAW DAO and you should be fine. (And, of course, turn your burning settings down if you believe those theories.)

How do you set it to RAW DAO in alcohol 52% ? I've been looking, and can't find that setting.

Oh haha, I missed that 52% part... a very important number in this post. As far as I know, Alcohol 52% doesn't let you burn disks. That's the reason they like to get you to upgrade to 120%. Since it doesn't burn disks, that would explain the lack of burning options.

Now if you're trying to rip the disk, that's a whole 'nother can of worms. Your everyday CD drive won't be able to read it since the Dreamcast uses GD-ROM disks.

If it is a .CDI image you are burning you can use Padus Diskjuggler. The trial burns games just fine and it's free. If you are ripping a game, you can't just put a Dreamcast game in your computer because it is a GD Rom. The computer won't read it.

Same here. Nothing ever went wrong with DJ. But Alcohol 120 never worked for me.

my recommendation is also on disk juggler. it hasn't failed me yet. make sure you get a cdi formatted game if your downloading a game though. that way you don't have to use a boot disk. i find mine at snesorama forums usually.

Honestly, I've never had any trouble with any program I've ever tried, providing you get the settings right. I will concur that DiscJuggler is a fantastic program for burning Dreamcast rips, but I think it's overkill in this day and age when free programs will do just fine. Specifically, BootDreams has never failed me. I usually use BootDreams in Wine on Linux or Alcohol 120% on Windows since I use it for mounting ISOs also.
