They're entitled to their dumb opinions.

For example: I love Comix Zone, but all my friends thought it sucked because it was 'too hard' and they couldn't make it to the end of the first level. I spent a few minutes and playing through the game with a friend in the room and they all of the sudden got interested in it when they saw me playing as I didn't just waste my powerups and extra health needlessly. Now they'll give it and a few others a shot when they're over, as loog as I make the gameplay look good.
Comix Zone is awesome. My friend had the same problem since he was like "Its too hard to play", for me it takes just a tad of effort and i can get past the first level. Its still a fun game regardless, short... but great.

Their expression might change when you say "Yea, i got this for 2 bucks, but i can ebay it for 80, great huh".

I like making money, dont know about you...

They may also be more interested if you show them earlier games from series they like, or show them some of the prettier games. If they like Zelda, boot up Link to the Past. And don't make a big deal about it, just do it in the middle of a conversation and keep talking while you play. Don't even bother talking about the game unless they ask.

dude i understand where your at. most of my friends, while not criticizing my love for retro games and try to show an interest, give off a feeling that they rather not play retro. or they just lose me in my talk about an old game they have most likely never herd of before. that's why i was glad to find a place like this. but it still sucks you cant get them to play the good stuff with you.

You have good taste. Vectorman has much replayability for me - and even though I've only had it for a few days, Comix Zone seems to likewise have incredible replayability.
Speaking of Vectorman, I recall Racketboy calling it a "guilty pleasure" in one of his articles - that's naughty, Racket. American Idol is a guilty pleasure; playing with kids toys is a guilty pleasure; Vectorman isn't a guilty pleasure! :P

On that note, the above quote is surely the clearest voice sample I've ever heard on the console. In fact, the game as a whole has the clearest voice samples I've heard on the console.

Show them a few episodes of AVGN. That's what got my friend and I interested in retro.

I wouldn't call my friends interested, but just from me talking about retro games has given them an appreciation.

All I have to say is when this did happen to me I whipped out Contra III and that shut them up.

Shooting a jet pack guy, whose got a grappling hook and sword while on a missile attached to a helicopter mid air ,tends to transcend people perceptions of awesome.
