Project D shows us what we all feared/suspected

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

and why has an 11 year old played those 2 games? Nice parenting. Yeah contra is also about guns, but in a much more cartoony way

I would like to see him playing Mega Man games. I didn't play Mega Man when they came out first (I was born in 1987, so I would have to be quite precocious to enjoy them as a 1 year old), and I love them, it's my favorite series (at least the original and X lines), ever.

Not only do I think Mega Man games (even after 3) are very solid to this day, I think the concept of choosing the stage you want to start and evolving your character as you defeat bosses has aged very well. Edit: Oh, and the life bar doesn't make it look as hard as Contra.

My younger brothers are 11 and 12 and really liked Battletoads' two player mode. They only got up to the part where you fall from the ceiling, but they kept playing it over and over again. The thing is, my brothers enjoy retro games more than the newer ones, probably because of my gaming preferences. It seems that they are also more nerdy than Dylan. From what I got out of the video, all I know is that he's 11, plays hockey, and only plays COD/Halo/Madden Sports games. He seems more like a smaller version of the fad gamers that are prevalent in high schools. I like the idea of introducing him to the classics, but I can't see it as going to succeed.

Starting them out on easier games, as has been pointed out by others here, is key. Three of my boys are of the age where they play, or enjoy watching games (ages 4,5,7). I have all the 6th gen consoles, xbox 360 and wii, and the boys like equally the newer and the older games. Some of the older games are too hard for them still to play but they do like to watch me play them. The old mario, zelda, punch out, street fighter, and newer like pikmin , psychonauts, etc. are favorites and they can watch a few SHUMPS for a while at least before wanting to watch something else.

As for playing, the Wii is big right now since we've only had it a month, but they also like to play the old mario titles themselves.

Also, they have never seemed to notice the graphics differences between the various generations. If a game is fun, the game is fun, regardless of how it looks.
Consoles: Wii, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Xbox (x3), Gamecube (x3), Playstation 2 (x2), Dreamcast (x2), Nintendo 64 (x2), Playstation 1 (x3), Saturn, SNES (x2), Sega 32X, Sega CD, Genesis (x4), Gameboy Color, NES.

It would have made a huge difference if he had played 2 player mode with another 11 year old.

If I have kids they're gonna have to graduate to a newer console each year. Starting with the atari 2600 at 3.

By age 6, they should be able to make and program their own game on a Commodore 64  .

I recommend checking out the newer episodes. Dylan is much less snarky and has a slightly better time with Battletoads and Mega Man 2.

Just one problem. HE DOESN'T LIKE THE MEGAMAN 2 MUSIC!
