Before commenting a bit on BBC's Office, although it isn't quite a sitcom I think you guys that watched shows from the 80s and 90s should take a look at "Darth Merenghi's Darkplace". It is a pastiche of several stuff from that period, and it is BRILLIANT.

I only watched the British "The Office" and I think that if you only see one episode of that (and don't see it again) it is very likely you won't get the point. I thought it was a bit of an acquired taste. I want to watch the U.S. one which from what I know is a bit "lighter" and probably funnier - but I doubt it will surpass the original in quality.

I do not work at an Office in that sense but I still ended up finding it hilariously funny at times (jello-stapler, when they all burst singing Manha Manha from the Muppets, all the double-entendres with Gareth), but above that I found it was a quality show that went well beyond comedy.

I think how funny you find the series depends on how much of a "sadist" you are, because the vast majority of the humor comes from situations that are absolutely cringe-worthy - something I personally tend not to find funny (e.g. when the boss accidentally head-butts the new secretary, or in general all the times the boss makes an absolute fool of himself)... But I think most people do laugh about that sort of cringe moments (and more power to you, not criticizing).

I forgot Dinosaurs , I used to love the baby dinosaur
Any how that show seemed to have failed commercially
Plus the idea is kind of wild, people dressed up as dinosaurs in a sitcom!? Was it a dress or what? who was the target market? I thought it was for 6-11 kids.

I think its very close to Flintstones

I must hang my head in shame. This was one of my favorites when I was a kid, since I was obsessed with dinosaurs, and this show was hilarious. Even though the baby only had one gimmick he somehow managed to always be funny.
Ditto, ditto, ditto. Also, I had a toy of the baby dinosaur with slapping action.

The bicycle chase scene with the monkey is hilarious, it sucks that the series only lasted 6 episodes.

I watched a few episodes of dinosaurs a few months back, didnt really enjoy it too much. I loved the show during its original run... It is a shame the networks dont take chances with things like this anymore, instead we get whatever reality show they can think of and make cheaply

Darkplace is a sitcom? If so, then yeah, put me down for loving that. I get giddy every time I see it come on adult swim.

I understand that networks want to reach maximum profit and that is fine. I would .

But can't they make like smaller channels or studios to test out new ideas and see if they work? I do not think it will cost them much, and if they succeed they will profit big time. Imagine no one wanted to use puppets for a children TV program!? Or if no network decided to create a movie like series. They need to test things out.

Oh, Black Books and Spaced were incredibly entertaining. Spaced, if you didn't know, was the series with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and more familiar characters that pop up in their movies (like the old gal friend in Shawn of the Dead who runs around with their respective counterparts/dopplegangers in the movie, and some of the villagers in Hot Fuzz were on the show I think). Spaced is perfect for 20th century 20-30 somethings who are eclectic and nerdy.

Anyway, Black Books starring Dylan Moran (also a guy in Shawn of the Dead as well as the friend in Run, Fatboy Run) is hilariously surreal and odd. There are some episodes online tv.com, I believe.
