Nintendo's very own form of cock fighting.
Re: Nintendo's very own form of cock fighting.
Quite honestly, I've never liked the path pokemon took after the original series. The pokemon universe just started to bloat, to the point where it is now. It also drove me nuts that you couldn't catch 'em all by yourself (the end result of the duel with super nerd always really pissed me off, I won so I should get both fossils). Back in the day catching 'em all was a lot easier, because there was a more reasonable number to catch. Also, as of the Diamond/Pearl era, the pokemon's designs aren't even really like pokemon. They've gotten all silvery and pointy.

^Yes, which is why I like my LeafGreen copy- they were smart and went back to the original with better (and easier on the eyes) graphics. I can't believe that some of the criticisms of the FireRed and LeafGreen games were that they were too "basic." WTF
I will always scorn the event-only pokemon...

Also, a friend of mine was talking about this weird modded game where you play it like pokemon but all the creatures are some cute chibi people... I vaguely remember it but he was saying that these chibis were using moves like Bubblebeam... has anyone else heard of that?

I barely knew that video games existed untill my mom spontaneously bought me a copy of pokemon red and a purple game boy...I still can't figure out why she did that
but hey, it got me into gaming...

Aha! I had forgotten about that for a while, and now I know what the hell it is. Boy, do I remember the days! I remember buying a clear purple gameboy color from some shady drug dealer at the bowling ally just so I could get Red version. Then I finally got it for Christmas and it was the best thing ever. The best part as you stated above, was playing with the other children in my neighborhood. Every Saturday we would all gather to trade, battle, and talk Pokemon! I even did it at school....on the down low of course. But anyways I loved the trading aspect of the game that made you talk to other players. I've met 2 of my best friends through this.DaGamingMonkey wrote:KholdStare wrote:
Hell if it wasn't for Pokemon, I probably would have never even owned a GameBoy.
Exactly. I got Red for Christmas the first year it was out. Along with the Ice Blue GB Pocket that came with Zelda.
That game was amazing and bringing friends from the neighborhood together and having mini tourneys with the link cable was a blast.

Damn double post!

In high school my band class was full of Pokemon fans, so we got out our copies and took turns with the cables to fight and trade- it was great. We got people to play who never even tried it before. It was easy to get away with in band since you're often left alone to "practice."
