Ok I JUST Got A PSP - Before I Touch It.................
I have read - http://www.wired.com/news/games/0,67742 ... page_next1
So I shouldn't update at all?
I want to use it for only emulation purposes; I have NO idea where to start though
Don't even know how to use a PSP never touched one; just got it as a gift.

Most new updates of PSP firmware thwarts the hacking community from running homebrew (emulators in your case) on the hardware. So keeping the earlier versions make it easier to run homebrew on it.
Just type "PSP hacking" in google and it will list websites with tutorials on exactly how to do it, and what firmware versions work.
You will have to check your PSP system menu to check what version firmware you have and download the appropriate stuff accordingly. There are tons of ways to hack into the PSP and use it (like the GTA save hack)...
personally I consider all the work required is a huge headache for something there is other hardware that works out of the box for. But that is a whole other thread (already done atleast twice here). As you already own a PSP this is your best options.
Here are two websites for you though.

Don't update if you can help it. Hopefully you can downgrade to 1.5 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStatio ... owngraders
Check your hardware version and firmware version. If you can downgrade then I would recommend the 3.10OE firmware by Dark Alex. The built in PSX emulation is quite good.

If I understand it correctly, unless you are planning on playing the latest and greatest commercial games, you should have to worry about updating it, correct?

Re: no games?
Why not get a PSP, downgrade it, buy that game and/or download it, then use ISOLoader to play it off of a memory card?walrus12 wrote:not even the classic Dracula X for PC Engine game? I was thinking about buying a PSP just to play that game then sell it. When I saw they were doing the original game and a remake I started drooling.
