That was such a great movie. While not completely amazing, it's technically flawless in my book. There's not a single thing I'd have changed.
Coraline was superb! Definitely one of the best recent movies I've seen. The stop motion seemed to stutter a bit during the dancing mouse part, but I could care less.
I just saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I fully enjoyed this one. A lot of fun to watch; it makes you wish that you were living the movie.
I just rewatched A Few Good Men. Wasn't it great back when Tom Cruise made movies you could get into, like Top Gun? And Jack Nicholson managed to steal the whole film even though he was only there for three scenes.

I just watched Steamboy. It's extremely visually impressive, although the basics of the story unfold pretty quickly and then you're just waiting for it to finish playing out. But, like a lot of anime, you watch it for the artwork and not the story.
Sunshine was unexpectedly better than I ever would've thought, though it does essentially follow the rules of a space horror movie. A person/many people go crazy, people start dying, some weird shit happens, they have seconds left to execute a task, etc. The main point about the movie I liked was the lack of a real main character- just about every character felt as strong and as real as the next, even with actors like Chris Evans and Cillian Murphy and frickin' Michelle Yeoh.
Knowing is another Nicolas Cage disaster... reminded me a lot of Number 23 with Jim Carrey and The Forgotten with Julianne Moore. Blegh

I agree, Sunshine was very good. Like a more mellow and easier to understand version of Event Horizon, which is one of my favorites.
So I recently watched Paths of Glory, Stanley Kubrick's other war movie. For some reason whenever I see modern lists of favorite Kubrick films, this one never appears, whereas both Full Metal Jacket and Dr. Strangelove often do. I wonder if this is because the latter two feature humor as a respite that simply isn't present in Paths of Glory.
The plot centers around a WWI battle that goes horribly awry for the French, and three men are chosen to face court martial and execution to pay for the "cowardice of their companies," which in turn were only put up to the battle by an ambitious general seeking promotion. Kubrick is claimed to have said that his film was never meant as anti-war, but instead as anti-authoritarian ignorance. I don't know if this claim is true, but I came out of this respecting Kubrick even more as a director than I did before(which is pretty amazing, concerning how much I've loved most of his work), because he managed to convey that impression while showing the soldiers to all be human beings. The ending to the film really drives that home, as the French soldiers become emotional as they listen to a German prisoner sing a folk song. It is perhaps the most moving scene of the entire film, and I'm glad it was put in.
I can't say that this is Kirk Douglas' best performance, considering that three years after this he would star in Sparticus, but I would say that this is definitely one of his top showings. If you're a fan of Kubrick or Douglas(or better yet both), this is well worth watching. It's an amazing movie, and I greatly recommend it.
Dracula starring Bela Lugosi: I loved this. Lugosi did a stupendous job and seemed threatening while never being rude. This definitely deserves its spot as a classic.

Totally having Mission Hill flashbacks right about now.

That reminds me, I've been meaning to watch that. Was it worse than Attack of the Killer Tomatos?
