Tom Clancy's racketsquad 6: the slow kids

Post by nickfil »

I've never played a tom clancy game, but i really enjoy the call of duty franchise which is kinda similar. I figured, i probably missed out on some great games when these were coming out. Now i can find them SUPER cheap.

Are there any clancy games to avoid? Under his umbrella is splinter cell, rainbow 6, and ghost squad. From the few videos i've seen online I think i have the least interest in the rainbow 6 games, but maybe they are good? I don't really see a whole lot of difference from ghost squad to rainbow 6 though. One looks like it is in the woods, the other in urban environments. Am i wrong?

My interest got piqued after seeing the new splinter cell game in action. I'm usually hit or miss on stealth games, but splinter cell looks pretty fun.

what are your favorites? What should I watch out for?

*edit* I just got Splinter cell, splinter cell chaos theory, Ghost Recon Island thunder, Ghost recon 2, and Rainbow 6 3 squad based counter terror from ebay for 6.25 shipped. Have i made a horrible mistake?

No, not a horrible mistake. Most of the Tom Clancy games are pretty good. They all kind of blur together in my mind as most army men games do, but prices are so cheap now that you really aren't out much for picking up a copy.

A good place to look for them is actually at Fred Meyer. Check the newspaper ads because Fred Meyer regularly has coupons for 10%-50% off videogames. They often have a spinning tower of PC games, which are mostly junk casual games, but if you flip through you can usually find several of the Tom Clancy games in there too. I recently bought Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter I and II for $5 bucks each. I bought Rainbow Six: Vegas for $5 bucks. I bought Splinter Cell and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow bundled for $5 bucks. Keep your eye out. They may not be the best games ever, but they are definitely good and worth the price of a cup of coffee.

I've raved about the joy of Vegas 2 in the past. I like it much more than the first. Also a huge fan of SC: Chaos Theory. Definitely the peak. Avoid the recent HAWX if you can.

Yeah, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is probably my favorite too, but that's just because the soundtrack is by Amon Tobin, who I have been a HUGE fan of for many years.

But why would you want to do all that when you could just play Delta Force and shoot the fuzzy pixel?

Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon are pretty good, but DON'T PLAY A TOM CLANCY GAME ON PSP! You have been warned.

ha. i ususally avoid psp titles unless i hear otherwise anyway.

So i picked up the splinter cell games and started in on the first one. Pretty fun so far, but took a bit to get used to. I was never any good at stealth games. So yeah... learning curve.

Looking forward to tackling vegas after that.

^I found the Splinter Cell games to be less flexible than other stealth games so don't worry about that. I haven't played them a lot though.
