If MMO's count I've been playing warhammer for two months (quitting though) and am starting Dungeons and dragons online (used to pay for stormreach but this version is even better as it is free!)

Need to get back into NWN2 and might play the baldurs gate games my bro just got

Pokémon FireRed. Yeah, really. On an emulator, because the game is so slow I can't take it, have to speed it up. Also, because I can't stand the bullshit of not being able to get some monsters in one version or other, so I use Gameshark to get LeafGreen's and other version exclusives (and event-only Pokémon -- really, if I were a Pokémon fan, this would make me nuts).

But enjoying it, anyway. I was feeling kinda nostalgic, wanted to replay the old games and decided to go for the remake instead.

FireRed was a massive improvement over the original. Compartmentalizing the item bag, short-cutting items with Select, and having the default box change over once one is full are simple upgrades, but make the game so much more playable. Making psychic-types less of a game-breaker is also appreciated.

Yes, it's a better game. The item-holding taken from the other games is also a nice touch, as it makes battles more strategic (as they're so simple, adding one more layer is a good idea). Graphics are also very crisp. Overrall, I enjoy it, although it still is too damn slow. And they seem to add new and longer battle animations at every Generation. I could just cut them at the options, but then I would be stuck with very dull looking battles.

Developers would have to at least double the speed of the game to make me go back to playing Pokémon at a portable system. Throwing a PokéBall and watching it slowly open, let sparkles out, absorb the Pokémon and ever so gingerly shake until the monster is out again and I have to throw another ball is painful.

They've been called out on that, especially the pokeball thing (though the shaking has always been a staple. In RBY it was flashing colors if I remember), the pause between an attack, stat-changing, and saying what the stat change is, and the ridiculous animations. (Nothing in FR/LG has shit on Roar of Time though)

I just beat Odin Sphere! What a difficult, aggravating, yet enjoyable game!

Just bought Chrono Trigger for the DS - so much fun! I have never actually played it. When it first came out on the SNES, I was in college and my video gaming was centered only around Street Figher 2 Turbo and Final Fantasy 3. Anyway, Chrono Trigger is great so far. I'm only about 10hrs in and I'm totally enjoying every minute of it.

I'm almost done with Paper Mario 64. I've been playing it with my kids and they love it. It has a nice story and it's a pretty easy "RPG". I plan to do Super Mario RPG (snes) next.

On the Gameboy, I just started Zelda: The Minish Cap.
