Ah, man, Hercules. What an awesome show that was. I love everything I've ever seen Kevin Sorbo do. My brother refers to him as "Sweet, sweet Kevin Sorbo" and believes he's a god amongst men, and I gotta agree. Great actor.Octopod wrote:I really like Xena, Hercules, Cleopatra 2525, Andromeda and the like.

Ok, I used to watch family matters as a kid, but yesterday I caught an episode, and I'm not sure how you can say anything today is cringeworthy and then recommend family matters. It had to be the cheesiest thing I have seen in some time, if it weren't for the nostalgia factor it would be unwatchable.Pulsar_t wrote:
I really enjoyed the first season of the IT Crowd. British sitcoms are usually superior to their US counterparts, and yes that includes the BBC's The Office, but British comedy is admittedly an acquired taste. Most newer US sitcoms are cringeworthy but I catch reruns of shows like Family Matters and Seinfeld whenever they're on.
Also I like the US version of the office a lot better. The original is ok.
Re: Sitcoms Dead?
Peep Show is hilarious. It's British but it feels like something you'd find on HBO. Similar to The Office or Curb Your Enthusiasm. The first season is out on DVD the US. You can find all six if you search around.

Haha. Me and my wife call him the Sorbo-sausage which is really more gross and creepy than anything else but we think it is funny for some reason. Come to think of it we also refer to Kevin Bacon as Bacon-bits because of his appearance in the first Friday the 13th movie in a speedo.
Re: Sitcoms Dead?
I could never get into that show because I grew up with the Steve Reeves Hercules. The long haired blond guy cannot match the awesome power of Steve Reeves.Ack wrote:Ah, man, Hercules. Oh we didn't watch it because it was quality programming. At least I didn't. It was hammy, campy, and all around good fun. Plus, Bruce Campbell was the king of thieves. How could you not want to see that?
Re: Sitcoms Dead?
Have you guys seen According To Jim? It's HILARIOUS!!!
oh... wait a minute...

Oh, I'm sorry. I can't even pretend to like that show without puking my guts out.

How can you watch random episodes of Lost? I have seen all the episodes in sequence and I still get confused?!vejita wrote:Star Trek TNG, I guess. Almost any cartoon show I will watch.
I don't have cable so I usually go online to find random episodes of stuff- that's how I got to see Lost, The Office, and Pushing Daisies...
Hearing from all of you seems that sitcom is really dead or just a niche market after being mainstream. I think 24 was the series that transformed tv into Lost , Sopranos, and the likes. They are not bad, I loved the Sopranos I am just saying. Inside my hart I hate to see a fashion or style or anything die, it just shows that I am getting older.
I once watched the office and I almost banged my head to the wall trying to understand what is funny about this. I am not sure if the episode was bad, or it was the British/American one. I heard one was better than the other, I am not sure which one I saw.
Arrested Development is a new name that I will give a look.
Re: Sitcoms Dead?
Don't let 30 Rock fool you, it looks quite broad and Friends-y and to an extent it is, in my opinion Arrested fans are on a higher comedy plain though and once you know what you're looking for it's tiny little footprints are all over 30 Rock. Any show that makes you respect a Baldwin has got to be worth a watch right? Give it 5 episodes what have you got to lose.General Chaos wrote:A friend recently loaned me Flight of the Conchords. It's not bad and definitely has some really funny moments.Krooner wrote:Completely with you on both of these, love Seinfeld to. you should give the 3 I mentioned above a try, you'd probably dig them. some of the staff writers on 'Arrested' now write on '30 Rock'General Chaos wrote:I could watch Arrested Development over, and over, and over again. It's my favorite show of all time, in fact.
I also watch Curb Your Enthusiasm. That one is still running.
My brother keeps recommending Always Sunny In Philadelphia, so I'll check that out eventually.
Is 30 Rock as obscure and oddball as Arrested Development? I can't stand comedies that even attempt to take themselves seriously.
Also, is the Arrested Development movie still in the works? I haven't heard anything in a while.
I'm not sure on the Arrested movie, Last I'd heard Cera didn't want to do it.
