Fanboys should just roll over and die

"BOOM! Headshot! Dead now, mother fucker...hey, Dodge Camry."
This is the only kind of advertising I will tolerate. It actually adds a neat element to some of the modern Ubisoft games. It's kinda cool when I played Splinter Cell 3 and saw little ads for Terminator 4 or some shit on the PCs in one level. It actually got me into the game more, and made it seem a little more viable that the events taking place were in the real world.

I just threw out random names, since I don't even know what the ads in BF2142 were for. Yes, I know Camry is not a Dodge vehicle.

When the original Wipeout came out, I thought RedBull was a fictional drink they were advertising in the game because I had never seen it in the real world back then. I kept wondering why my character could never buy it and improve his reaction time.

Way better than that Micro$oft machine. Oh man, and yesterday, some dude was totally selling a $ega Dreamca$t along with a $aturn. I also thought about picking up a $NE$, but didn't have the cash on hand. It could have sat next to my Atari VC$.

A wise Latina would buy a Wii.

After that one I was asked to leave the store. More recently I was told I am not a real gamer because I do not own a PS3 and that I prefer Tatsunoko vs Capcom over Street Fighter 4. I am not sure how that works, but whatever.

After seeing many outburst, like the one we had a couple weeks ago by an irate Microsoft fan, well my patience has grown very thin for these kinds of fans. I will ask them a few probing questions and if they give the same cliché answers the conversation is over. Last week I actually had a guy turn to his friends and say that he owned me right there and so I asked him if he knew what Joust was. He didn’t. It is on his precious 360 and he didn’t know what it was. “Sounds gay” was the response. When I showed it to him he didn’t understand the appeal. “Halo 1 even looks better than this.” I just walked away after that. If he was going to compare the graphics of a 30 year old game to an 8 year old one I knew we were done.
I got this really bad sinking feeling while reading all this. SNK collection? Mini games? Sweet Jebus. It's amazing how thick-headed people are.

Well played.

On topic - I really like my 360 and think MS has done a good job this gen, even despite all the RROD shit, which I will not defend. But when I read the news about Silverlight and Gold ads today, I had one reaction: Dubya Tee Eff. Seriously. It's bullshit, especially after Major Mouthpiece went out of his way to talk about how Silverlight would "enhance" the ads already there, not add more. It's enhancing something alright: profits. It doesn't seem like a *huge* deal to be honest, but it's still irritating. (I can't check it out for myself because my 360 is RROD - )

I guess I don't get the big deal. It's an ad that you can pretty much skip/avoid. I don't mind paying for Xbox Live because I see the value in it, it's a great service and it's not like I don't pay to be online on my computer. So, there's an ad now and then, now the majority of websites I go to online have ads too. I guess that makes me a fanboy, but I'm not the one all worked up over anything about it either. Sort of makes me wonder who the real fanboy in this whole discussion really is. These companies, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are making videogames to make money, they are businesses. So, if Microsoft can sell an ad on their online service they are going to. There are ads on cable tv and people already pay for that "subscription" just like people pay to be on the internet and there are ads all over that. Any business exists to make money, plan and simple.

Funny, because i get more irratated at Sony fanboys who insist that the PS3 is better than the 360. Some claim the 360 is "last gen" ....If it is last gen then were does that place the Wii.Honestly the 360 has better 3rd party support, i don't care if that is because microsoft pays out the wazooo for the exclusives.Honestly i have had more problems with sony fanboys. I havn't met many 360 fanboys yet.I really can't comment on the whole red ring thing because i have had mine since release day and used it heavily and it is still running just fine.

I have all three of this gens console consoles and frankly my 360 sees the most use with the wii second and the Ps3 never being hooked up unless i want to play exclusives. Of course their is going to be more immature kids playing the 360 because it is the cheaper console and 99% of kids are getting these things from their parents. Really xbox live has to be the best online service i have ever used despite the immature kids using it. I am more than glad to pay X amount of dollars a month for it than use the PS3 online service. If PS3 online service was as good as 360's nobody would be paying out for it when they could just switch over.

I don't mean to come off as a fanboy.I just play my 360 more for the same reason i played PS1 more than Saturn.I love the saturn and sega deeply but the PS1 served me better as a primary gaming console.I will also say that i have always had a grudge against sony for beating my precious N64 and Saturn. And then again for KILLING THE DREAMCAST!!!!  But they always made up for it in the game department, but now that is starting to change. I used to be Sega+ nintendo fanboy but the wii kinda ruined nintendo for me and sega isn't really sega ne more soooo....

oh for god sakes READ my posts.

My problem is with the fanboys, actually defending the decision. It's not like they are gettig payed for defending it. They should complain, even if there's the tiniest chance they'll get something done, they should try it out.

Yes but with any thread like this it's bound to turn into a Micro$oft vrs $ony deal :D.I personally like hearing why people prefer one console to the other with the exception of people being like"HALO PWNS ALL MAN WHO CARES BOUT PS3". The ad thing is A$$ but hey...not much we can do about it. Sorry tho i just read your first post and bits and pieces of the rest of em.
