How is the segway a failure? Please I live in friggin' Spain and the police is starting to use it.
And I don't think the Dreamcast was a failure. It seems SEGA was already dead and the DC didn't turn as much money so as to save it but I'm pretty sure they didn't lose money.
Dreamcast is cnets #1 biggest tech flops of the decade.

Re: Dreamcast is cnets #1 biggest tech flops of the decade.
So the Dreamcast, a console that sold 10mil in 2 years, is a failure, but the xbox, a console that sold 24 mil in 5 years, and cost the company that made it 4 billion $ is not a failure?
Any hardware from sega from the mega cd to the saturn you could call a failure, but no not the dreamcast. It's sega that failed not the Dreamcast. It had a big number of great games, and that's really something, from a console only 2 years in the market. If sega hadn't spend all their money on crap like the 32x, and if saturn wasn't the flop it was (it sold less than the dreamcast according to wikipedia) the dreamcast in my opinion, could have sold up to 50 mill units. But it was not to be

while that point is valid, i'm not sure the dreamcast would have been so amazing if sega didn't have to reevaluate their situation. they made dreamcast as a savior which it almost was, it was killed off by hype. if people didn't stop buying dreamcasts at the sign of a PS2 then maybe sega would be alive today and current sonic games wouldn't suck...
sonic team went down hill ever since sega stopped making hardware

Because the hype for the segway basically said it was going to redefine how we lived. Clearly it hasn't. I've seen various cities starting to pick it up for their police force, but for the most part it's fallen off the radar of most people.

Once again, this was not about whether the product came out and didn't sell anything. The list was about which products failed to live up to their promise. The Dreamcast had an implicit promise to allow Sega to continue in the market as a competitor for your hardware bucks. Clearly it didn't meet that promise, as Sega bowed out after two years.

This past weekend, it got back on my radar in the Boston area. We have these Trolleys, duck tours but for the first time, I saw a Segway Tour. A bunch of people were riding on Segways with a tour guide. They may've been doing this for awhile since I don't go into the city that often.

There's no way I can see a mention of Segway anywhere and not laugh. GOB's fault.
