GBA game freezing

Post by noiseredux »

Hey. Weird question, cuz I've never heard of this. But I recently picked up a used GBA SP (red) and it's been working just fine. However, my copy of Super Puzzle Fighter II has frozen up on me about half a dozen times in the last couple weeks. Usually during animation cut scenes after losing a round. I looked inside the (ebay-purchased) cart, and I can see the Nintendo logo on the board, and the cart looks cosmetically legit. So I don't think I have a bootleg. Is it common for GBA games to freeze? Is there a solution? Is it the GBA SP? Help!

Umm, Q-Tips and Rubbing Alcohol? :|

You may want to get a GB or GBA cleaning kit, the GBA's cart slot may just have some dirt or crap on the pins.

I didnt know there were GBA cleaning kits... so you think it's the GBA, not the game?

Well it could be either.

Also I'm nit sure if they made GBA cleaning kits either as well, but they did make them for the GB, GBP, and GBC so if you can't find a GBA one just use one of the others as they're all physically the same and do the same job.

I've used a GB one to clean out a mint original GBA that I got which had a stubborn cart slot, three seconds later I was playing Metroid.

Have you tried testing the game on someone else's GBA?

No. But I don't know anyone else that has one. This forum is the entirety of my "gaming friends." I have used the game in my Gameboy Player, and can't remember any freezes. But at the same time, I haven't seen any other game freeze up on my GBA. Weird.

I've had this problem with Mario Bros. DX. I've given the game up as a lost cause. I think it's something internally that causes the game to act strange.

ya Gooseberrysoda is wright. I suppose the internal problem in the root of your difficulty. You should double check that. Try it and then tell me
