My family has owned a record setup for as long as I can remember. The needle got damaged, though, when I was a kid and my parents never replaced it. It ended up being a fixture in the family room, along with the two big speakers, until eventually they redid the family room and it got moved into the basement. Then a few years ago we were cleaning out the basement and discovered the old record collection we inherited from my aunt. And this had some quality stuff, a little Eagles, some Zeppelin, and others. My brother ended up claiming the turntable for himself and started amassing records of his own. I gotta tell you, Stevie Wonder sounds amazing on a nice old turntable setup.

Bad news. It appears that my turntable doesn't have the proper output for my speakers. The turntable has a phono output while my speakers have the wires that are separated between positive and negative charges (I'm sorry I don't know the technical name). Is there any type of converter that I can get?

ubertron777, i'm certain you need a receiver. i don't think i've ever heard of a turntable being able to hook up directly to speakers. something like this, but it needn't be so old:

I am only 16 ,but i have managed to amass a collection of over a hundred records.They do infact sound better and have no pop/hiss/white noise if they are in good condition.Come on lets face it,Vinyl as a format is much more astheticly pleasing than that of CD's.I listened to pink floyd's the dark side of the moon on vinyl,cassette,CD,and 8 Track ,and the vinyl has the best sound quality.This seems to be the case with most albums i buy.The only reason you would want any other format is for the portability.I know this is strange but i like Cassettes better than CD's.Probably because i fixed my original radio in my car and got it reninstalled(now i have a $250 alpine control deck in my floor)and it has a cassette player.Well anyway im getting way off topic.In the end vinyl is still the most kickass format. LONG LIVE VINYL!!!
