I never thought I'de see the day

Post by jackspicer »

You know those stories you read on the internet where some one walks into a garage sale or a flea market and finds something awsome for cheap as dirt? Well today was my day! :D

Sorry for the cruddy pic's but theres two cabs, one is an atari klax cab and the other is an snk Time Soldiers cab; with the cool 360 degree joysticks and an extra tall screen for vertical shooters. I found them at a garage sale for 25$ each. There both in nice shape too. Now i just need to find a galaga pcb so i can put one next to my bubble bobble cab.

yep, they both work. But they both have a few issues, klax's joysticks are shotty and time soldier has your typical lazy arcade conversion button layout  i think the guy was drunk when he drilled the holes. But im pretty anal about my stuff being nice.

I wish stuff like that would happen in the UK. I'm desperate to pick up some cabs but can never find anywhere that wants to get rid of them.

Where are you based out of? I am positive Ive seen that Klax cab before. It is a great find and should be alot of fun. An old girlfriend of mine loved Klax, the only game she liked oddly.

I had a similar experience last weekend, but I had to spend more. I was fixing pcs at my brothers church in Florida and one of the guys who couldnt fix them earlier - had to use knoppix to bypass some corrupted sections on a harddrive. So it ends up his wife wants him to get rid of some of his cabs. So soon an Donkey Kong Jr and a busted Ms Pacman lowboy. Screen is blown on the Ms Pacman, along with the controls and coin door, but itll become a MAME caberet in the future. Those two plus some dead cabs for $200.

50 dollars for TWO arcade cabinets? Man this is crazy! Normally you pay that for your average CD game.

Congratulations!
