it's pretty sad that Luigi's Mansion has no line coming out of it, and the sports and party games take so much space

Seems like they should have put the Mario Kart games in a descending branch. I mean, Mario Kart 64 is a descendent of Super Mario Kart, not a sibling. Also, New Super Mario Bros. should be a direct descendent of Super Mario World, and a sibling to Mario 64, which is the parent of the 3d Marios. But maybe I'm over thinking this.

You know, some of those sports games are actually quite good. It's Mario, so they're not going for realism and they distill the sport down to what makes it fun. I'm no sports fan myself, but it's worth remembering that they are games after all. I particularly like the Mario Golf and Mario Tennis series.

Very cool, but I disagree with some of the layout. For example, I would say that Wario Land (i.e Super Mario Land 3) is a descendant of Super Mario Land 2, rather than of Mario & Wario.

I would have had Super Mario RPG alongside the paper Mario games because while they aren't directly related, it's pretty clear where the inspiration came from.

To expand on that, I'd have the various Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games descend from Mario RPG.

This is more of what I was getting at ZeroAX

I mean if super mario kart had just absolutely bombed when it was released, would there have been a mario kart 64? I guess there are several ways to look at it.

I also think there needs to be a more obvious/direct link between the Mario RPG and Paper Mario series.
