I only remember the 10 years because it struck me as kinda awesome how when my friend first loaned me some vhs copies back in school, I was 14, and the main characters were also 14.

I'm a huge EVA fan and all this talk is making my pirating half scream at me to DL a copy.
I haven't either. I used to be a big EVA fan, but then I grew older and grumpier. I'll have to watch it later.

I still think EVA had some great ideas, cool concepts (the Angels, for instance) and nice mecha action. Pretty innovative for the time, and the execution was excellent, mostly. It's just the ending that is kinda difficult to swallow.

By the way, the manga is awesome, I don't if anyone here has read it. It's more linear and easier to follow, as well as better developed, IMO. The only (granted, BIG) flaw is that the action sequences are very confusing. It gets better, though.

Now, it might be some years before we see a new volume of the series, since Yoshiyuki Sadamoto publishes one chapter per, uh, decade. But the at least the quality of the work has been high.

I've read the manga, and even though it's not technically canon due to the few changes (Fuyutsuki is Asuka's biological father/sperm donor, etc...) and the new characters (Kaji's brother, etc...) it is a pretty well done manga.
