Inefficient or underemployed?

I can, and have, do my entire departments job for the day in about five hours. But in doing that I gain nothing but a bunch of complaints from my coworkers about how hard their lives are. So if I do only my sixth of the work, well that means I have downtime, lots of downtime. Think of my worklife like that of Peter Gibbons, and yes we have had the Bobs come by.

I remember when I worked in a restaurant, I usually did my job really fast and then waited for something to come up for me to do. Then I started getting bullshit from the managers, as if I was slacking or something. Then I started to do my work veeery slowly, so as to appear busy my entire shift. Got a lot less crap that way. Inefficient? Sure. My fault? No, it's their horrible model.

At least I think the restaurant is in the toilet right now, due to the recession. If it goes bankrupt, good riddance. Far too much inefficiency for the lowly employees to handle.
