Good DFW gaming shops?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I hadn't heard about that, I'll be sure to check it out when it opens.

I spent my entire life in Dallas up until a few years ago. I'll be visiting family there in October so I'll keep an eye on this thread. Maybe I can do some retro game shopping while there.

I would say that your best bet for NES/SNES/N64/ or Genesis games would be to try one of the Movie Trading Company's around here.

None of the three chains I've looked at are perfect, but they all have their strengths. Let me rate them for you based on Selection, Prices, and Customer Service.

CGX: The only good thing about CGX is their excellent selection of games. Their prices however are terrible, the Frisco location wanted $10 for a loose copy of Shaq-Fu. Finally, their employees range from indifferent to outright hostile. (One asked me if I was going to buy anything.)

Movie Trading Company: My personal favorite. Their selection is decent, but not quite as good as CGX. Their prices are the best of the three, very reasonable. Their employees are pretty good too, I was in an amusing conversation about Mario with the employee ringing up my purchase and another customer.

Play n Trade: PnT wins for customer service, the guy behind the counter at their Frisco location is actually the store owner, and he's a great guy. Their prices are also good, but not quite as good as Movie Trading Company. My only gripe is that they rarely seem to get new inventory.

Hope you find something.
